Skincare Routine For Acne-Prone Skin

This skincare routine focuses on adding soothing and simple products that helps calm and sooth the skin. I have been using this routine for the past three to four months and it has helped my skin a lot. If you decide to try it out, I highly recommend sticking to the routine for atleast three to four months.

  1. Cleanser: Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser

This cleanser is super gentle, and does not strip my skin for the most part. It does not have any “active ingredients” like salicylic acid or niacinimide. It has helped keep my cleansing routine very gentle.

  2. Toner & Essences: Mediheal Teatree Trouble Facial Toner Pads, Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Asiatica Ampoule

These toner combination has helped reduce my breakouts, and helps soothe my skin, because they all contain antibacterial and soothing ingredientsThey also help keep my skin hydrated.

  3. Moisturizer: COSRX Oil Free Lotion with Birch Sap

This moisturizer has been th eonly one that does not clog my pores or cause breakouts. It is basic, moisturizing and does not have a greasy feel. It also absorps pretty fast.

  4. Tretinoin: Mine is Medical-grade

Tretinoin has helped clear most of my acne scars and reduces my breakouts. You can get this prescribed by your doctor or get one over the counter, but you have to research which brand will work best for you.

  5. Chemical Exfoliant: By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

This mandelic acid has helped reduce my skin texture and it gently exfoliates my skin. It reduces the flakiness and dry skin when my skin is flaky from tretinoin. It also reduces my breakouts as well.

  6. Sunscreen: Roundlab Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen

This sunscreen is very hydrating, not greasy and it does not leave a white cast on me (I have medium-tan skin). I love it, and it does not break me out either. It is super lightweight. If you get it, get it directly from the brand’s website, not Amazon. I do not think the brand carries this particular sunscreen in their Amazon storefront.

    Weekly Nightime Routine:

Monday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, mandelic acid, moisturizer

Tuesday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer, tretinion, moisturizer

Wednesday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer

Thursday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, mandelic acid, moisturizer

Friday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer, tretinion, moisturizer

Saturday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer

Sunday: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer

Daytime Routine: cleanser, toner pad, toners, moisturizer, sunscreen

Tip: After a few months of using tretinoin, increasing the amount of days you use it helps the efficacy and reduces peeling. I am about to increase how many days I use tretinoin since I’ve only been using it twice a week.
